Pravuda Devaraya - a Thiruvannamalai King, once requested Arunagirinathar to visit his court. Sampanthandan, a scholar in his court was jealous of Arunagiri's religious & spiritual attainments and proposes a competition - The two devotees would summon their favorite deities to give a darshan and this competition was held in publi...c in the Arunachaleswara Temple.

Sampanthandan was a devotee of Kali and she would appear whenever he summoned her (but on this day his boon had expired :)) and Arunagiri's calls the Lord dancing to his tunes.. (அபின காளி தானாட, உதய தாம மார்பான ப்ரபுட தேவ மாராஜனுளமு மாட.. மயிலு மாடி நீயாடி ...... வரவேணும்).

And the Lord mounted on his peacock gave darshan in one of the pillars of the mantapam in the Arunachaleswara Temple.. in evidence! Astounding..
