Tiruvadanai

திருவாடானை temple is about 2000 years old and is about 70 kms from Ramnad (we went via Sivagangai). Legend has it that Vaaruni, the son of Varuna, was once cursed by a Sage to have an elephant's body and a goat's head - And regained his normal form after worshiping Shiva at this temple.

This is one of the Shiva temples offering pujas to Sun God. Sun worshipped Lord Shiva on his Avudayar – made of sapphire gems and hence the name of the Lord, Adhi Ratneswarar. When abishekam is performed during midday, the Lord appears blue! Tirugnanasambandar has made a mention of this temple in his Thevaram and one of the 9 Pandiya region padal petra Sthalams.

Moolavar : Adhi Ratneswarar - Amman : Snehavalli - Sthala Vruksham - Vilvam
