Chidambaram Thirupugazh

If you mention "Kovil" it simply denotes Chidambaram; while you enjoy the Ananda dhandavam of Natrajar, and the magnificent Sivagami amman in the "Manonmani" swaroopam at Chidambaram, the Lord of Tirupugazh, is sung in 68 songs out of 1324 songs of Arunagirinathar.

In the inner praharam of Natarajar Sannadhi, there is a separate shrine for Murugan as Muthukumara swamy. And there is a Palani Dhandayudapani near the Natrajar Kodimaram as well. The one you see in the picture is the inner wall of Mela Gopuram - Velayuda Moorthy, with Arumugam and 12 arms and a victorious smile!

For each and every sculpture of Murugan @ Chidambaram, Arunagirinathar has sung a Tirupugazh! What's interesting is the fact that he symbolizes Lord Nataraja as Murugan himself.. due to the fact that Lord Natraja himself gave darshan as Murugan..

The very first song says "கனகசபை மேவு மெனதுகுரு நாத கருணைமுரு கேசப் ...... பெருமாள்காண்" which means "பொன்னம்பலமாகிய சிதம்பரத்தில் நடனம் செய்யும் எனது குருநாதராகிய கருணை நிறைந்தமுருகேசப் பெருமாள் நீதான்"
